Students from Hartford Public High School Academy of Nursing and Health Sciences hosted the Red Cross Student Conference for the 2014/15 school year. The Academy students developed skits to teach other high school students how to run a blood drive, how to recruit for a blood drive, what types of blood products there are and what they are used for. Students also led a seminar on how to market the blood drive at their respective schools. The T-shirt design was developed by academy student Zaire Diaz and the Wizard of Oz themed drawings were also done by Zaire. It was a wonderful learning experience for all who attended and for our students as the presenters.

The Nursing Reflections of Excellence banquet is put together by the UCONN School of Nursing Alumni & Friends Society. It is a yearly event where nursing alumni, friends, and students come together to honor distinguished alumni, scholarship benefactors, and recipients. This is a special event where many School of Nursing students are recognized and awarded academic scholarships. This was the first year that a group of high school students were invited to join the banquet. The students were specially welcomed by the Dean Regina Cusson.
